The Results
This year's Ayrshire Business Awards were held at the Western House Hotel, Ayr on Thursday 23rd February 2006. The Awards acknowledge the achievements of businesses of all sizes, large and small, across all industry sectors. The evening was well attended with over 30 companies represented. DTS was unfortunate and was pipped at the post for the Award, which was won by Consolidated Carriers Ltd. Managing Director, David Boyd commented " this was a great achievement for our company to be selected as finalists, and this recognition is down to all the efforts of all the staff at DTS. We are looking forward to the Awards for next year and hopefully we can take that additional step" comments David.
The Awards were hosted by Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire and the main sponsor was GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) - one of the world's leading pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. The MC for the evening was Fred MacAulay, who presents a popular breakfast radio show and is one of the most famous faces of Scottish comedy today. Fred is also an Ambassador for the Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust. The guest speaker for the evening was Rachel Elnaugh, who is one of Britain's highest profile female entrepreneurs. Rachel founded her first business - Red Letter Days in 1989 at the age of just 24. She has now been appointed as Chief Executive of the UK's leading art retailer easyart.com. Rachel was also one of the panelists on the hit TV program 'The Dragon's Den'.
